Victor Omololu Olunloyo, former governor of old Oyo State, South-West Nigeria, has expressed fears over the success of the ongoing national conference.
Olunloyo expressed his pessimism during his opening address at the 2014 Annual Luncheon of the Lagos Branch of the Government College Ibadan Old Boys Association, GCIOBA.
While stressing his belief in Nigeria’s ability to recover from its present woes, Olunloyo, who was the chairman of the occasion, feels pessimistic about the success of the national conference.
“The thing that gladdens my heart about Nigeria is that we will recover; there are a lot of useless people in different positions of authority. The national conference may not likely succeed. They are using the same old rogues to run Nigeria; old, tired, worn-out athletes who do not want to run the country, but are interested in running it down. If they don’t change, events will change them,” Olunloyo said.
The event, which held on Sunday June 8, 2014 at the Civic Center, Victoria Island, Lagos, attracted old students of the College, including Olunloyo; Biodun Jolaoso, national president, GCIOBA; Wale Babalakin, Chairman, Lagos branch; Femi Okurounmu, Chairman, Presidential Advisory Committee on 2014 National Conference; and Jide Adedeji, among others.
