Enugu INEC Office Besieged

The INEC office of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, was on Friday besieged by many people who had indicated interest in working as INEC’s ADHOC staff with regard to the 2015 general elections.

TELL learnt that, to be chosen to work as INEC staff, many people in the Coal City underwent screening. Having been examined, INEC on Friday morning pasted the names of successful candidates on the walls of its office located at Independence Layout area of the capital city.

Since then, it has attracted not a few people who were curious to know whether they were chosen for the exercise as well as area where they will be serving.

While this was going on, journalists were also getting accredited for the elections. The journalists who had, in the past couple of days, made strenuous efforts to get their accreditation tags to no avail, finally secured them on Friday.

Anthonia Chiebonam Ekwo, the deputy director, head of department of voter education, publicity, gender and civil society liaison, INEC office Enugu, told the magazine that the voting materials had been moved to the different locations in the state and that before 8am tomorrow, INEC officials will be ready for voting.

Within the capital city, the election topic has dominated discussions, with many residents of the state indicating their willingness to vote tomorrow.
