Darius Ishaku of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has been declared winner of Taraba State governorship election, after a supplementary election was held on April 25.
Ishaku polled 369,318 votes against Aisha Alhassan’s, candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, his closest rival. Senator Alhassan polled 275,984 votes to clinch second.
The election had been declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC on the grounds that the PDP candidate was leading his major rival with a close margin in the April 11 polls.
Ishaku was leading Alhassan with 53, 000 while the number of cancelled votes stood at 127, 125. “So there will be a runoff election to determine who the winner is”, Ahmed Makamma, the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC had stated.
