Ali Olanusi, Ondo State Deputy Governor, has been impeached by 24 out of the 26 state assembly members.
Olanusi was impeached on Monday on allegations of gross misconduct, including financial misappropriation and absenteeism from official duties.
Ifedayo Akinsoyinu, House majority leader representing Ondo West 11, moved a motion for his impeachment and was seconded by Olatunji Dauro of Owo 11 few hours after a 7- man panel report of enquiry into the allegations found him guilty of the offences.
Olasehinde Kumuyi, State Chief Judge, had constituted the panel to investigate the issues raised in the impeachment notice served on Olanusi on April 22 by the lawmakers.
Olanusi got himself into trouble when he defected from the Peoples Democratic party, PDP to the All Progressives Congress on March 26, two days to the last presidential elections on which President Goodluck Jonathan, PDP candidate, lost out to Muhammadu Buhari, the opposition APC candidate.
