The Supreme Court has reinstated Abubakar Danladi, impeached Deputy Governor of Taraba State.

The court ruling, presided over by a five-man panel of judges, ordered that Danladi be sworn in immediately putting an end to the tenure of Umar Garba, the acting Governor of the state.

Danladi was sacked by the State House of Assembly in 2012 shortly before Danbaba Suntai, then governor of the state had a brain injury as a result of a plane crash in Yola, Adamawa State.

Justice Sylvester Ngwuta who delivered the lead judgment today maintained that the impeachment panel set up by the House of Assembly to investigate the allegations against Danladi violated his rights to fair hearing.

Danladi had earlier lost out in the lower courts when he sought redress after his controversial impeachment.
