2face Idibia, popular music artiste, Jimmy Jatt, popular Disc Jockey, Gbenga Adeyinka, ace comedian and Yemi Solade, Nollywood Actor, have been unveiled as the first four ambassadors for the Nigerian Entertainment Industry Health Insurance Scheme, NEIHIS.

The organisers of NEIHIS said the appointment of goodwill ambassadors is part of frantic efforts they are making towards the scheme’s successful kick off and the institutionalization of the Nigerian Entertainment Industry Health Trust Fund, NEIHTF.

In the last one week, the ambassadors who have identified with, and also undergoing enrollment procedures to NEIHIS have been involved in the shooting of Public Service Announcements, PSA, for the scheme.

The PSAs are meant to feature prominently on partner television and radio stations with a view to educating practitioners about the scheme and encouraging mass enrollment.

The goodwill ambassadors spoke highly of the scheme and described it as a deliberate attempt to safeguard the lives of the practitioners of the entertainment industry and restore the industry’s credibility, as this will put an end to public begging and avoidable deaths.

Idibia described it as a “lifesaving initiative and selfless sacrifice for the glory of the industry”. Solade expressed his intense believe that “begging for alms when chips are down will no longer be tolerated as the scheme is meant to eradicate all of that.”

NEIHIS is a private health insurance scheme with customized plans specifically for the entertainment industry. It is an initiative of Nigerian Entertainment Industry Lecture Series, NEILS, in partnership with the National Health Insurance Scheme, NHIS.
