Aminu Tambuwal, Speaker, Federal House of Representatives said he and some of his colleagues who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to the main opposition All Progressives Party, APC would have been richer if they had remained with the PDP ahead of this year’s general elections.

The Speaker said their decision to give what he claimed as “better leadership” to Nigerians has cost them the advantage of enjoying the benefits of being in the same political camp with the PDP led federal government.

“Remaining in the PDP would have been the easy option for us. We would have been richer and would been enjoying the benefits of being in the same political camp with the Federal Government. But we chose a different option because we felt enough is enough. We felt Nigeria deserves better leadership that is why we are in the APC,” Imam Imam, spokesman to the Speaker said on Monday in a statement.

“Many patriotic Nigerians who felt the need to change the course of our country have protested the inept administrative style visited on this country. They made their voices known by abandoning the PDP and teaming up with progressive-minded Nigerians,” he added.

Tambuwal told his audience at the APC town hall meeting in Tsafe Emirate, Zamfara State last Sunday, March 15 that while delivering the speech that “A vote for PDP would be undignified. We must re-discover our self-worth as a people, we must move the country forward.”

Though Tambuwal first became a member of the green chamber of the national assembly in 2007 and rose to become Speaker of the House in 2011 under the PDP, he said since 1999, the PDP has proven to be incapable of piloting the nation’s ship of leadership.
