Sam Sumana, the Vice President of Sierra Leone, has placed himself in quarantine, because of the recent death of one of his guards due to the Ebola Virus Disease.
The Vice President took this decision just as the country introduces travel restriction as the number of cases of Ebola continues to rise.
Sumana has placed himself on a precautionary quarantine, while waiting for the test results from the health authority.
“John Koroma, a 42-year-old body guard to Sumana died from Ebola on Friday.
“Sumana is not in danger, but has decided to stay out of office for the next 21 days and work from his home in the West Central,” said sources from the vice presidents office.
Sierra Leone government recently voiced great concern about the disease saying that “the fall in the number of new cases seen in West Africa has been reversed and that the common denominator in this case are involved with maritime activities.”
In view of this, boats can no longer enter Sierra Leone overnight, while the government has also placed restrictions on commercial vehicles and number of passengers carried by taxies, lorries and other vehicles.
