Officers of the Ogun State Command of the Nigerian Police have arrested and detained Tolani Ajayi, a 21-year-old 300 level student of the Redeemer’s University of Nigeria, RUN for allegedly killing his 60-year-old father, Charles Ajayi, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN.

Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO of the Command, who confirmed the incident, explained thatthe suspect did not only murder his father, but also cut the deceased’s body and stuffed it in a box before dumping it in a nearby bush at Canaan Land Street.

“The DPO, Redemption Camp, Superintendent of Police Olaiya Martins, had led a team of detectives and some members of the community, who noticed the strange attitude of the suspect while dumping a box, to the point, where the body of the late SAN was dumped,” he said.

Adejobi adds that, “They thereafter traced the ground marks of the dragged box from where the suspect dumped the dad’s corpse to the house of the Senior Advocate of Nigeria, where they met the suspect in a relaxed mood in the house.”

Following interrogation by the police, the suspect said problem arose between him and his father, when the deceased confronted him for not responding to all the prayer points he was raising, and thereafter he slapped him.

The suspect confirmed to the Police that he lost control of his temper and went straight to the kitchen to pick up a knife to stab his father and later a cutlass to cut his throat and killed him.
