Nigerian Troops Storm Adamawa Communities

Members of the Nigerian Armed Forces are currently carrying out a major operation to fish out remnants of Boko Haram members in Michika and some other neighbouring communities in Adamawa State.

Investigation revealed that the soldiers have placed restriction on movement from Hong to Michika to prevent the insurgents from fleeing the area.

TELL learnt that some of the insurgents believed to be from the Michika area recently launched an attack on a military checkpoint in the town but were repelled by the vigilant soldiers, who are now conducting a house-to-house search to flush out the insurgents hiding in some of the communities.

“You know, some of the youths from Michika joined them, and they attacked the troops in the town. The soldiers were able to repel the attack and pursued them to some communities outside the main town. The troops have also imposed a no movement order on the area from Hong to Michika,” a source said.

The source also added that the troops recovered three buses, which were taken away from the College of Education, Hong, during the invasion of the community by the insurgents.

As at press time the defence ministry was yet to confirm the military operation.
