Domingo Obende, the All Progressives Congress, APC Senator representing Edo North District has rubbished reports that he dumped the party for the Social Democratic Party, SDP.
Obende stated this while reacting to reports that he led some members of the APC to defect to the SDP in a ceremony in South-Ibie of the Etsako West local Government Area.
He insisted that nothing of such happened. Obende described such claims as a false and “calculated attempt to smear” his name. He again affirmed his support for the APC claiming that he did not even contemplate leaving a party he has contributed so much to building.
“It is mischievous and ill-conceived by those who planted such a report that I consider defamatory to my person. I have contributed immensely to the emergence of the APC; I am a member of the Board of Trustees, National Executive Committee of the party and it is definitely too late for my detractors to misinform the public about my position on our APC.
“I was actively involved in the primaries held in Lagos that presented our presidential candidate, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari. So, it is just too late for mischief makers to get any plus from such report,” Obende said.
