Northern Youth Forum, NYF a social-political group has called on the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to remove Sule Lamido, Jigawa State governor for condemning the Northwest leaders of the party over their endorsement of President Goodluck Jonathan for re-election in 2015.
The PDP’s Northwest zone had met in Kaduna State last Saturday and pledged their support for the President to re-contest at next year’s election.
But in a swift reaction, Lamido dissociated himself from the decision of the zone. Ahmed Mahmoud, deputy to the governor who made the position of his principal known on Monday said the endorsement of “Jonathan as the party’s presidential flag bearer is wrong and we hereby disassociate the government, and the people of the state from such undemocratic act.”
“We, in Jigawa, were not part of the decision taken by the PDP to endorse President Jonathan as its presidential flag bearer in 2015, and this has clearly embarrassed us as PDP members as well as people of the state,” he stated.
Expressing dismay at the governor’s statement this Friday, Sani Auyo, spokesperson for NYF said, the group was disturbed by Lamido’s statement.
