The Kwankwasiyya Movement has commended political appointees, elected officials, and grassroots members who voluntarily resigned their positions in solidarity with its leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, describing their actions as a powerful demonstration of courage, integrity, and principled leadership.

In a statement issued on February 8, 2026, and signed by its spokesperson, Dr. Habibu Sale Mohammed, the Movement expressed profound appreciation to former Commissioners, Special Advisers, Special Assistants, Managing Directors, Executive Secretaries, and other political appointees who chose to step aside despite the privileges attached to their offices.

According to the Movement, the resignations reflect a conscious decision to uphold honour, conviction, and loyalty to the enduring ideals of Kwankwasiyya, noting that many of those who resigned made significant contributions to the formation, stability, and success of the government before relinquishing their positions.

The statement disclosed that Senator Kwankwaso had earlier appealed to those who resigned to reconsider their decisions, citing his commitment to inclusive governance, institution-building, and service delivery.

However, the Movement explained that the individuals involved maintained their stance, stating that their personal convictions and sense of responsibility conflicted with the prevailing directives and political orientation of the Gandujiyya-led Kano State government.

The Kwankwasiyya Movement also praised the Deputy Governor, a serving Senator, Members of the House of Representatives, Members of the Kano State House of Assembly, and elected councillors who have remained steadfast and loyal despite what it described as sustained pressure and inducements from both state and federal authorities. It said their resilience has reinforced public confidence in representative democracy and principled leadership.

At the grassroots level, the Movement acknowledged members who resigned from Local Government Councils, including council secretaries, supervisory councillors, special advisers, and personal assistants, describing their actions as a reflection of deep-rooted commitment to justice, fairness, and good governance.

Reaffirming its core philosophy, the Movement stressed that Kwankwasiyya is not built on political offices or privileges but on sacrifice, service, and the pursuit of social justice. It added that history would ultimately recognise and honour those who stood firm at what it described as a defining moment in Kano politics.

The statement further urged members still holding office on special assignments or transitional arrangements to conduct themselves with professionalism, civility, and restraint, while assuring supporters that the Movement remains united, resilient, and focused.

“No amount of pressure, intimidation, or inducement can derail a movement rooted in the will and aspirations of the people,” the statement.
