Kaduna Awards Scholarship to 125 Students

Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, Kaduna State Governor has awarded 125 foreign scholarships to doctorate, masters and undergraduate medical students of the state origin.

The beneficiaries would study medical sciences, engineering, applied and natural sciences in Malaysia, Ghana, South Africa, India, New Zealand, Egypt and Uganda.

Yero said the aim of the 2014/2015 Overseas Scholarship Awards was to improve the human capital in order to accelerate socio- economic development of the state.

The candidates were selected after a thorough screening exercise with all the 23 local government areas equitably represented.

“There are 22 PhD, 77 MSc and 26 MBBS candidates selected to pursue their respective programmes in countries such as Malaysia, Ghana, South Africa, India, New Zealand, Egypt and Uganda.

“So far, the administration has spent N1.4billion on internal and external scholarships since it assumed office on December 16, 2012 in addition to a recent approval for the disbursement of N119, 992,692.00 as scholarships to new students,” the governor said.
