The Corona inquest into the collapsed six-storey building of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, SCOAN has been stalled by the on-going strike action of Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria, JUSUN.
The Corona sitting in the premises of the Lagos State High Court Headquarters, Lagos had adjourned sitting till January 6 for continuation of hearing into the matter but could not sit due to the ongoing strike action of judiciary workers.
Among other high profile cases, the ongoing strike action will also affect the determination of a suit filed by Prophet Temitope Joshua, founder and general overseer of the church praying the court to caution the Inquest against going “beyond its boundary.”
He also wanted the court to bar the Inquest from inviting him to testify before it over the matter.
Recall that a 6-storey guesthouse belonging to SCOAN collapsed in the church premises in September 2014, killing about 116 people including 84 South Africans.
Judicial workers embarked on a nationwide strike on Monday to demand for the implementation of a Federal High Court judgment on autonomy for the judiciary, across the nation.
