The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has confirmed the receipt of a formal petition from Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, against the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Farouk Ahmed.
In a media release issued on Tuesday, December 16, 2025,
signed by the ICPC’s spokesperson, John Okor Odey, the anti-graft agency disclosed that the petition was submitted through Dangote’s legal representatives.
“The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) writes to confirm that it received a formal petition today, Tuesday, 16th December 2025, from Alhaji Aliko Dangote through his lawyer. The petition is against the CEO of the NMDPRA, Alhaji Farouk Ahmed,” the statement read.
The Commission further assured that due process would be followed in handling the matter.
“The ICPC wishes to state that the petition will be duly investigated,” it added.
The confirmation has sparked public interest, given the high-profile nature of the petitioner and the strategic role of the NMDPRA in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, as attention now shifts to the outcome of the Commission’s investigation.
