The Federal Executive Council, FEC, will today, receive and deliberate on the report of a committee set up by President Goodluck Jonathan to draw up the implementation strategy for the recommendations of the 2014 National Conference.

A top government official, who pleaded anonymity on Tuesday, said that discussion on the report of the Justice Idris Kutigi-led conference would be the major part of the meeting expected to be presided over by the President.

Jonathan had during his meetings with traditional rulers from the Southwest ahead of the March 28 presidential election promised to ensure the implementation of the conference’s report if re-elected.

In September 2014 shortly after the end of the conference, Jonathan had approved the composition of a presidential committee to study and draw up the implementation strategy.

Muhammed Adoke, the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, is the chairman of the presidential panel while Pius Anyim, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, is the secretary.

The FEC, which is the highest decision-making body of the Federal Government, meets every Wednesday.
