Dino Melaye, a former member of the House of Representatives, has described as disastrous and unimaginable the level of tolerance that Nigerians have shown for corruption under the President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan-led administration.

He added that the president has left a scar in the conscience of humanity. “GEJ has left a scar in the conscience of humanity.”

This he disclosed today via his twitter handle nothing that the tragedy of Nigeria is that the country has become a nation where thieves and looters are celebrated while good men and women are vilified.

Melaye who was the founder of the National Association of Democratic Youths (NADY), a non-governmental organization formed in 1999 said, “We practice universal basic education while our public office holders never allow their children to attend public schools.”

He added that “We live in sad times, where primitive accumulation of wealth that we do not need is the bench mark of success.”

The anti-corruption activist said Nigeria now has leaders who do not have faith in the education system of the country. “We have leaders who have no faith in the education system in the country.”

He however challenged Nigerians to rise against corruption noting that this is the time for change.

“Our duty as citizens is to re-energize ourselves, liberate our country and reclaim it back from impunity and corruption. Stand up somebody. Somebody get out of your cocoon, be agitated in your spirit, be a change agent and demand an end to ineptitude and mediocrity. Get up. We must change our behavioral DNA. The time for change is Now,” Melaye wrote.
