President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigerians to embrace peace, religious tolerance, and unity as he delivered his 2025 Christmas Goodwill Message, assuring citizens of his administration’s continued commitment to security, freedom of worship, and national stability.

In the message issued on Wednesday, December 24, the President congratulated Christians in Nigeria and across the world on the Christmas celebration, describing the birth of Jesus Christ as a timeless reminder of love, grace, hope, and goodwill to humanity.

Tinubu said Christmas goes beyond festivities, calling on Nigerians to reflect on the message of Christ as the Prince of Peace and to strengthen bonds of harmony, especially among people of different religious beliefs.

He thanked God for the opportunity to serve the nation and prayed for enduring peace across the country, reaffirming that his government remains resolute in protecting religious freedom and the lives of all citizens, regardless of faith.

“As President, I remain fully committed to enshrining religious freedom in Nigeria and ensuring that no one suffers violence or discrimination for practising their faith,” Tinubu said.
The President commended Christians for their significant contributions to Nigeria’s social and national development, noting that the teachings of Christ have inspired many to care for the vulnerable, uplift the less privileged, and promote peace and tolerance in their communities.

He also praised individuals and organisations working tirelessly to bring hope in difficult times, saying the Christmas season serves as a reminder that God remains present despite the nation’s challenges.

Reiterating his administration’s focus since assuming office in 2023, Tinubu said the commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s unity, security, and stability remains unwavering and guided by the Constitution.
“All Nigerians have the right to live, worship, and pursue their aspirations in safety and dignity,” he stated, adding that shared values of love for God and humanity must continue to bind the nation together as one indivisible people.

The President revealed that his government has maintained continuous engagement with leaders of the country’s two major faiths to address concerns around insecurity and religious intolerance, pledging to deepen collaboration with religious institutions to prevent conflict and promote peaceful coexistence.

As Nigerians travel during the festive season, Tinubu appealed for patience and discipline on the roads, wishing all travellers safe journeys and safe returns.
Expressing optimism about Nigeria’s future, the President said the nation would continue the task of building a stronger and more prosperous country through collective effort and divine guidance.

He concluded by wishing Nigerians a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year in advance.
