Okezie Ikpeazu, governor of Abia State, southeast Nigeria has lost the battle to retain his seat at the government house Umuhaia. The Court of Appeal this afternoon ruled that he was not the winner of the last governorship election.
The court sitting in Owerri, Imo state ruled that the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP actually lost to his opponent Alex Otti of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA. Otti, a former managing director of Diamond Bank Plc went to the election tribunal to challenge the declaration of Ikpeazu, but lost at the tribunal in November.
If Otti wins at the Supreme Court, he would be the second governor in this dispensation flying the flag of APGA in office.
