Alhaji Umar Abdu Tsauri (TaTa) was born on February14, 1968 to the family of the late Alhaji Abdullahi Tsauri and Hajia Binta Abdu Tsauri in Dutsinma LG of Katsina State. He started his education in 1975 at Na Alhaji Primary School in Dutsinma after which he proceeded to Government Day Secondary School, Dutsinma in 1980. He left secondary school in 1986 from where he proceeded to School of General Studies, Bayero University, Kano for a four-term pre-degree course in Arts and Social Sciences. He was, in 1987 admitted into degree programme to read English/History. He left Bayero University in 1990 and was posted to then Borno State for his National Youths Service Corps, NYSC, scheme. He served as a lecturer in the Federal College of Education, (Technical), Potiskum. On completion of his NYSC in 1991, he was employed by the Federal Civil Service Commission as Information Officer II and posted to Federal Ministry of Information and Culture. In 1992, he was offered a more challenging job in the Voice of Nigeria, Lagos where he served until 1993 when he left for Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Kaduna as a Current Affairs Officer. In 1994, he was offered an appointment by Unipetrol Nig Plc, where he stayed until 1996. After a short stay, he went back to public service in 1999 as an administrative officer in the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation. He has served in ministries of agriculture, Cooperation and Integration in Africa; NEPAD Nigeria Office, and Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Ministry of Defense. He is currently an Assistant Director in the Ministry of Petroleum Resources. He attended international seminars and courses in Singapore, Brazil, Canada, the United States, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and South Africa and has served in the secretariat of various standing and Adhoc Committees of the federal government.
