The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has extended the voting time till tomorrow Sunday March 29, to accommodate voters who could not vote today because of the challenge with the card readers. Chris Iyimoga, INEC commissioner for Information on voter education announced this in Abuja on behalf of the Commission.
Though he said he could not be categorical about the number of states affected by the development, Iyimoga said all Resident Electoral Commissioners, RECs at the states have been informed to comply with the directive.
There had been complaints about hitches in the performance of the card readers and late delivery of materials to polling units. In fact the All Progressives Congress, APC had earlier appealed to the electoral umpire that it should consider extending the time of the election.
