Nigeria’s popular singer, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, better known with his stage name WizKid, has won another first in the United States of America.
The new feat comes amidst breaking records like appearing on the billboard charts and reaching number one on U.S urban radio with his song, as the first Nigerian song ever. Wizkid currently has the most shazamed song in the United States with his song “Essence” featuring Tems, another Nigerian artist.
Shazam is an application that helps people to recognize music based on a short sample played through the microphone on the device.
The song essence was released off the singer’s Made In Lagos album and has since been making waves. It has reached number one in different countries on the Apple Music chart. Wizkid recently released an essence remix, featuring U.S based artist Justin Bieber and ranked number 13 on billboard Hot 100.
The Singer’s fourth studio album keeps getting global recognition, also attaining new feats for Afro-beats and the Nigerian music industry.
