Temitope Joshua, Founder of The Synagogue Church of All Nations, SCOAN has set aside the evening of December 31 for Candlelight memorial service for the victims of the September 12 six-storey building collapse belonging to the church.
Over 44 relations of some of the 116 dead victims from South Africa who had been hosted by the Prophet since Christmas day will attend the service that will also mark the church’s annual crossover Night-service.
The service will commence from 7pm tonight till dawn at the church’s headquarters at the Ikotun area of Lagos.
The Prophet usually make some predictions during every crossover night service.
In a telephone conversation with TELL, Patrick Iwelumor, spokesman for SCOAN said the service was meant to console the bereaved over the death of their loved ones.
“The aim of the hosting is basically prayer and assuring them that their relations didn’t die in vain. It is some kind of consolation. As at last count, 44 families were already there. But some have also come,” Iwelumor said.
Asked if the Prophet would give the relatives any form of compensation, he said, “no, that would amount to equating life with money.”
However, he admitted that Joshua is responsible for all expenses that will be incurred by the relatives of the victims during the visit. “Definitely I know he (Joshua) is paying the bills of their travel, stay and feeding,” he told the magazine.
It would be recalled that the some aggrieved South African relatives of the victims had warned Joshua not to step into the country when it was reported that the Prophet was planning to pay a commiseration visit to them days after the wreckage.
The Lagos State government had opened a Corona inquest into the guesthouse collapse in order to ascertain the actual cause.
While building experts have pointed at structural defects for the tragedy that claimed several lives and left many others injured, SCOAN says a mysterious aircraft hovered over the building thrice before it collapsed.
Meanwhile, Joshua has refused to appear before the Corona to testify even after he had been summoned about three times.Follow Us on Social Media
