Few hours after government officials announced a ceasefire between the Nigerian Army and the Boko Haram sect, men suspected to be Boko Haram militants have killed several people in two different attacks in Borno State.
According to security sources and witnesses, suspected insurgents killed at least one person and ransacked homes in the first attack mounted on Friday night at Abadam village, Borno State.
They carried out another attack on the village of Dzur on Saturday morning leaving at least eight persons dead.
Alex Badeh, Nigeria’s Chief of Defense Staff announced on Friday that the Nigerian Army had entered a ceasefire deal with Boko Haram to ensure the release of schoolgirls abducted in Chibok, Borno State on April 14, 2014.
