Adeyemi Ikuforiji, Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly has picked the form to indicate his interest in contesting for the Lagos State governorship in 2015 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Addressing newsmen today at the party’s state secretariat on Acme road, Ogba, Lagos, Ikuforiji said because he believes that the state deserves the best leader, he has decided to bring professionalism and creditability from the legislature to the executive arm of governance.

Expressing hope of emerging as the party’s candidate from the primaries, Ikuforiji said he is not new to contesting and winning elections.

Ikuforiji who had a case of corruption filled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC discarded by a Lagos High Court recently, said for the fact that he defeated the anti graft agency, the public should be “rest assured” that any appeal by EFCC “will amount to nothing,”

However, while expressing belief in the possibility of a consensus candidate emerging at the party primaries, the speaker said, ” there can be consensus candidate and we will not be the first. Even President Goodluck Jonathan is the consensus candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party. So, there is nothing wrong in having a consensus candidate.”
