Babatunde Fashola, Lagos State governor, has described as a demonstration of “bold ignorance and deception” the claim that the Lagos State government allocates only 3 per cent of its education budget to primary education.

The governor stated this in reaction to an allegation credited to Jimi Agbaje, governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Fashola said “Every Lagosian must see not only his (Agbaje’s) ignorance, but lack of experience and preparation,” to govern the state. He added that local governments are majorly responsible for the funding of primary education anywhere in the world.

Speaking during the marking of his 2,800 days in office on Tuesday, Fashola said it is not right for anyone to say that his administration has not done much in areas of education, housing, security and power.

Fashola cited the construction of houses in Ikorodu, Alausa, behind the secretariat, Oko-oba in Agege, Shongo-tedo in Etiosa, Ketu, Mushin and Ilupeju parts of the state as some of the areas his administration has carried out mass housing construction during his over seven years in office.

Fashola who boasted of his administration’s achievement in areas of education, security and housing also stated that the state is working tirelessly to improve on power delivery to the residents.

Calling on members of the state to support Akinwumi Ambode, the All Progressives Congress, APC governorship candidate for the February elections, Fashola said an APC led government can boast of achieving much results in virtually all areas of the state.
