Olubadan
As resident of Ibadan, the capital of Oyo state continue to mourn the death of Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade I, the Olubadan of Ibadan, Bukola Saraki the senate president, has described the late monarch as an inspiration to the entire Yoruba nation and the entire country at large. He said this on Wednesday while expressing shock at the passage of the king. “was a great and courageous monarch who fought valiantly to preserve the dignity of the Ibadan traditional stool and, by extension, the nation’s traditional institution.”, he said. The Senate president described Odulana as a highly accomplished parliamentarian, frontline politician and a statesman who was a member of the Federal House of Representatives in the First Republic and remained till his death a role model for current members of the parliament at state and federal levels.”
“Looking at the life and times of the late Olubadan, I cannot but hold my breath considering his achievements. This was a man who started as a clerk, became a teacher, soldier, politician, educationist, parliamentarian, philanthropist and first-class traditional ruler in a span of about 100 years. I will simply say he lived a worthy and exemplary life. His was a true-life story of grass to grace. This I believe would remain a great source of inspiration to all of us and the upcoming generation. “In he same vein, Abiola Ajimobi, the governor of Oyo State, said the monarch played a pivotal role in his administration’s transformation and restoration programmes. Olubadan died at his Monaatan residence in Ibadan on Tuesday, at the age of 10.

Born to Pa Odulana Ayinla family on April 14,1914. Odulana, who hailed from the Ladunni Compound of Oja Igbo, became Olubadan in July 2007 following the demise of Oba Yinusa Ogundipel, Arapasowu I, who ruled from 1999 to 2007.
