Some 3,032 soldiers of the 5,000 who were initially sacked from the Nigeria Army over alleged insubordination in the course of fighting the Boko Haram insurgency in the North-Eastern part of the country have been reinstated and have also commenced training.
The Defence Headquarter said on its twitter handle on Thursday (today) said the reinstated soldiers “have shown total readiness to be re-launched into theatre to combat insurgency.” Reinstated Soldiers Begin Training

The reinstatement of the soldiers came after the army instituted a committee to review disciplinary cases against the soldiers, especially those in the defunct OP ZAMAN LAFIYA, with the intention of ensuring discipline, regimentation and justice in the system.

“The committee has concluded its sitting, made certain recommendations that led to the reinstatement of 3,032 soldiers out of 5,000 cases. The reinstated soldiers have shown total readiness to be re-launched into theatre to combat insurgency and have now commenced a re-training,” a statement from the defence headquarters said.

The statement also added that President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the award of Nigerian Army Medal, NAM to Major-General Abayomi Gabriel Olonishakin, Chief of Defence Staff and Major-General T.Y. Buratai, the Chief of Army Staff.

The defence headquarters ended the statement with a reassurance to
meet the three months’ deadline the President had given it to crush the
insurgents. “We would like to reassure…the Federal Republic of Nigeria and indeed the good people of our great nation that we would definitely meet up with the 3-month deadline and do the nation proud,” the stated added.
