Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, House of Assembly member representing Obokun constituency, has called on Nigerians to use the period of Ramadan to supplicate for the survival of the country from the grips of its current financial challenges.
He said this during a special prayer session organised by Obokun Muslim Youth Forum marking the beginning of the Ramadan.
Oyintiloye reiterated that at this critical period, government at all levels need fervent prayers to overcome the challenges.
Speaking on the significance of Ramadan as a special month and one of the Pillars of Islam, Oyintiloye noted that the month is a period of act of kindness and generosity.
“This season of Ramadan is a period to move closer to God and pray more for the survival of the country and seek for forgiveness.
“Though the government of President Muhammadu Buhari has shown commitment to change in terms of good governance, but for him to succeed, we need prayers for wisdom to carry out the enormous task before him.
“Also, over 23 states of the Federation are presently owing their workers salaries running to months, and to get out of this condition, we need prayers.
“Beside, we must use this period to instill discipline in ourselves and shun any act, which are against the doctrine of Islam,” Oyintiloye said.
He added that Ramadan season preaches love, forgiveness, discipline, peace and unity and these are the virtues that Nigeria needs at this critical time.
Oyintiloye also urged the government to remain focused in its agenda and blueprint for the stability and growth of the nation, just as he charged the people to show love and support for government to succeed.
