Orji Debunks Allegations of Owing Workers Salary

Theodore Orji, Abia State governor, has debunked allegations that the state government owed workers salaries while it earns N5bn monthly from the federation account.

Orji who stated this in a press statement released on Thursday also lashed out at Chikwe Udensi, the governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA in the state who had earlier alleged that civil servants in Abia State were being owed five months salary arrears while the state receives N5bn monthly from the federation account.

In the press statement signed by Charles Ajunwa, Chief Press Secretary to Abia State governor, Orji refuted the allegations, describing it as not only mischievous, but also spurious. While stating that the comments revealed Udensi’s ignorance about governance, Orji stressed that the claim only exists in his imagination.

“The unguarded comments by Chike Udensi are simply advertising his ignorance about governance because none of the lies he vomited has any semblance of truth. We are, however, not surprised because falsehood has been his trademark. Abia’s allocation from the federation account has always fluctuated between N3bn to N4.5bn and not N5bn as alleged by the ignorant politician who should have known better considering his self-acclaimed position,” the statement read.

Orji, who also responded to Udensi’s allegation that Abia State, has collapsed under his watch, argued that his administration has committed more funds to infrastructural developments than any previous governments in the state.

“It is on record that Abia, which had a lot of deteriorated infrastructure when we came on board, has significantly transformed under this administration. Apart from roads, Abia State has witnessed transformations in other critical sectors, including health, agriculture, education, and security more than any previous administrations in the state,” the statement added.

Having achieved that much in the state, the governor wondered why anyone who aspires to govern the state would blindly deny identifiable developments.
