Fred Odianosen Itua, an Assistant Political Editor with The Sun Newspaper, has been named the chief press secretary to the incoming Edo State governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo. Okpebholo is billed to be sworn in Tuesday November 12. Itua was until his appointment on Monday, the Senate correspondent of The Sun.
A personally signed statement by the governor-elect announcing his first appointment ahead of his inauguration said Itua’s proven track record in journalism, coupled with his dedication to maintaining high standards in public communication, would serve as crucial assets to the new administration as it aimed to fulfill its mandate to the people of Edo State.
The statement said the appointment reinforced Senator Okpebholo’s “commitment to fostering transparency and effective communication within his administration, ensuring that the voices and needs of the citizens are prioritised”.
Itua made his first outing following his appointment on Monday at the Congress of the Edo State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) and inauguration of a new executive of the union led by Comrade Festus Alenkhe whose mandate was renewed for another three years.
