Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has suspended for six months the Rector of the Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, Professor Emmanuel Achuenu, and the Bursar, Mr. Ahwabighie Lawrence in his capacity as Visitor to the institution.

Governor Oborevwori suspended the duo for alleged financial irregularities and administrative misconduct.

Governor Oborevwori also upheld the earlier suspension of the Registrar, Dr. Jude Okocha, by the Polytechnic’s Governing Council headed by Pastor Paul Adingwupu, who named Dr. Chika Ogonwa as Acting Rector.
A statement on Friday signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Kingsley Eze Emu, explained that the suspension of the principal officers was to allow for a thorough and unbiased investigation into allegations of administrative misconduct and financial breaches levelled against them by the Governing Council.
The statement further directed the Deputy Rector to act as Rector during the six-month suspension period, while the most senior accountant in the Bursary Department will serve as Acting Bursar for the same duration.
