The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, has expressed concern over the ability of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to conduct credible elections in the country.
This was contained in a statement by the union this Saturday, signed by Shuaibu Leman, its national secretary, against the backdrop of what it described as the last minute hasty postponement of the process.

INEC had cited logistics problems and operational hiccups for its last minute action.
“It is instructive to note that INEC had before now, consistently assured Nigerians and the international community of its preparedness to give Nigerians free and fair elections. It is therefore pertinent to request for more explanations as to why such a grossly unconventional decision was taken,” the statement read.
