The rules of the Senate did not envisage that there could be a walk-out by all members of political party during a major consideration in the Senate. That is why when all senators elected on the platform of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP staged a walk out, because they failed to make the Senate discuss the report of the probe by the Nyesom Wike administration in Rivers state into the government of Chibuike Amaechi, former governor of the state. The PDP appears to be opposed to the confirmation of the nomination of Amaechi as minister of the federal republic.
But while they were outside the chambers of the upper house of the National Assembly their counterparts of the All Progressives Congress, APC confirmed the nomination. The screening of Amaechi has been the most contentious of all the ministerial nominees.
With the confirmation of the remaining nominees, the Senate has finally pushed the ball back to President Muhammadu Buhari for him to constitute his cabinet.
