Outrage has trailed a viral video allegedly showing Lagos State NURTW Chairman, Musiliu Akinsanya popularly known as Sego, issuing threats against residents ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In the video, Sego allegedly vowed to “deal with anyone” who fails to vote for the All-Progressives Congress (APC), sparking fears of voter intimidation in Nigeria’s most populous city of over 20 million people.

Civil society groups, opposition voices, and concerned citizens have condemned the remarks, describing them as an attack on democratic rights and electoral freedom. Many Nigerians on social media have demanded urgent intervention from security agencies and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to guarantee free and fair elections in Lagos.

Critics warn that such statements could fuel political violence and undermine confidence in Nigeria’s fragile democracy.

“This is an unacceptable attempt to intimidate Lagosians. No politician or union leader has the right to threaten voters or dictate their choices,” one activist said.

While Sego’s comments continue to generate public anger, calls are growing for the Federal Government and relevant authorities to rein in political thuggery ahead of the 2027 elections.

As of press time, neither Sego nor the APC leadership in Lagos has issued an official response to the controversy.
