Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has approved a 27.5 per cent Teachers’ Specific Allowance (TSA) for teachers across the state, hours after announcing the policy during the 2026 budget presentation on Monday. The approval gives immediate effect to the governor’s pledge, with implementation set to begin in January 2026.
In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, the allowance will apply to Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN)-certified teachers under the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) and the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) on the CONKWESS I salary structure.
Teachers without TRCN certification will also benefit from the policy, receiving a 21 per cent allowance, the statement said.
Governor AbdulRazaq again acknowledged the vital role teachers play in the education sector and national development, praising their dedication and commitment to shaping the future of the state.
The approval of the TSA is part of the Kwara State Government’s broader efforts to improve teachers’ welfare, boost morale and strengthen the quality of education across the state.
