Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has been honored with the prestigious title of “Infrastructure Governor of the Year” at the 15th African Achievers Awards held in London, United Kingdom.

The annual event, which celebrates visionary African leaders and institutions making impactful contributions to the continent’s development, recognized Governor Yusuf for his bold strides in transforming infrastructure across Kano State within a short time in office.

According to the awards committee, the Kano governor stood out for his commitment to urban renewal, road construction, education infrastructure, and healthcare development, placing Kano back on the map as a center of modern growth and sustainability in northern Nigeria.

“Governor Yusuf’s reforms and delivery in infrastructure are not only transforming Kano but setting a new standard for governance in Nigeria,” said a representative of the awards committee during the ceremony.

The recognition comes as Governor Yusuf continues to roll out strategic development projects, including the rehabilitation of major roads, affordable housing schemes, school renovations, and public transportation upgrades across the state.

In his acceptance speech, Yusuf dedicated the award to the people of Kano, promising to remain focused on projects that directly impact their daily lives.

“This award is a testament to what we can achieve when leadership meets the people’s needs,” he said.

The African Achievers Awards, established in 2010, is one of Africa’s most respected platforms honoring leadership excellence, innovation, and nation-building.
