…Says Programme’ll bring People Closer to Govt
Immediate past deputy whip of the House of Representatives, Pally Iriase has hailed the President, Muhammadu Buhari for making human empowerment and social intervention which had hitherto not been a policy of government, a part of governance in Nigeria. Iriase also thanked the president for introducing dynamism into what the Social Investment Programme, SIP, is all about. Speaking at Otuo, near Afuze, in Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State at the kick-off of skills acquisition training programme for no fewer than 300 women and youths in the constituency, Iriase posited that Buhari’s Social Investment Programme and his administration’s investment in human capital development have brought governance closer to the people.
In his words, “my thanks are fully to the federal government for making human empowerment, social intervention a part of governance in Nigeria until the Buhari government came on board. As it is usual for some of us who love to be responsible representatives, we try to dovetail our constituency outreach to the key policies of the federal government. It is my own little way to ensure that my constituency intervention funds were channeled appropriately to bequeath skills that will empower members of my constituency. I must commend the Federal Government for being determined to make life meaningful for the citizenry”.
