Tensions in the Middle East surged dramatically after Iran launched a ballistic missile and drone attack on Bahrain’s strategic oil infrastructure, while fresh explosions rocked Tehran amid ongoing U.S. and Israeli military operations, raising fears of a wider regional conflict.
The strike targeted the BAPCO Energies oil storage facility in Sitra, a critical hub for Bahrain’s energy sector. Authorities confirmed that one of the storage tanks was hit, triggering a large fire that sent thick black smoke into the sky. Emergency response teams quickly brought the blaze under control, and officials reported no casualties, although assessments of structural damage are still ongoing.

The attack marks a significant escalation in Iran’s retaliatory campaign, directly targeting Gulf oil assets and heightening concerns about the security of energy infrastructure across the region.
Hours after the Bahrain strike, multiple explosions were reported in western Tehran near Mehrabad International Airport, with visible smoke plumes and emergency deployments suggesting continued U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iranian positions.
Amid the intensifying military exchanges, diplomatic efforts led by Pakistan have shown cautious signs of progress. Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, dismissed reports that Tehran had rejected talks in Islamabad, stating that Iran has “never refused” dialogue and remains appreciative of Pakistan’s mediation role.
