Two Die on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Accident

A multiple accident caused by an early morning fuel tanker explosion on Kara bridge, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway outward Lagos was the cause of a heavy vehicular traffic Saturday. Though officials of Lagos Emergency Management Agency, Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, the Police and the Ogun state Traffic Corps Enforcement unit, TRACE got there on time to mitigate the effect of the explosion and the attendant accident, work hand to be suspended.

The action of the officials followed reported attacks by miscreants who were said to have descended on the rescue agency officials for some unspecified reason.

This development prolonged the time for the clearing of the scene of the accident. Meanwhile, reports say that the driver of the tanker and his assistant were burnt to death in the inferno.

Babatunde Akinbiyi, spokesperson for TRACE has therefore advised road users approaching Lagos or going outside Lagos to use alternative routes in the meantime.
