Nigeria’s journalism community is in mourning following the passing of respected media professional, Emmanuel Bodemeh, a cornerstone of TELL Communications Limited and longtime Director of Production at TELL Magazine.

Mr. Bodemeh died on Tuesday, March 25, 2026, bringing to a close a remarkable career that spanned over three decades and left a lasting imprint on Nigeria’s media landscape.

A quiet force behind one of Nigeria’s most influential publications, Bodemeh was widely admired for his technical mastery, discipline, and unwavering commitment to excellence. As Director of Production, he oversaw the visual presentation, printing standards, and timely release of the magazine, ensuring that every edition met the high expectations of readers across the country.

Joining the organisation in the early 1990s, he rose through the ranks to become a pivotal figure in the production department. His work became especially significant during the military era under Sani Abacha, when TELL Magazine earned national recognition for its bold investigative reporting and resilience in the face of political repression.

In 1998, Bodemeh was among staff members arrested during a raid on the magazine’s offices amid heightened tensions between the press and the military government—an episode that underscored the risks taken by journalists committed to truth and accountability.

Over the years, he collaborated closely with editors, designers, and illustrators, helping shape the magazine’s distinctive identity and storytelling quality. His contributions ensured that TELL Magazine remained a trusted platform for in-depth reporting and national discourse.

Until his passing, he continued to serve actively as Director of Production, reflecting a rare level of dedication and loyalty to the organisation.

He is survived by his wife and children.

In an official statement, TELL Communications Limited described him as “a deeply valued colleague whose professionalism, consistency, and quiet strength sustained the organisation through decades of change.”

Tributes have continued to pour in from journalists, media stakeholders, and readers across Nigeria, many remembering him as a humble yet impactful figure whose work helped shape modern Nigerian journalism.

Funeral arrangements, including wake-keeping and burial details, are expected to be announced by the family in due course.

As the nation reflects on his life and legacy, Bodemeh is remembered not just for his role in production, but for his enduring contribution to the survival and success of independent journalism in Nigeria.

May his soul rest in perfect peace.
