Not less than 110 inmates who escaped from the Federal Prison, Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State on December 1, following an attack on the prisons by unknown gunmen attack have been rearrested by the state Police Command.
Taiwo Lakanu, the Commissioner of Police, CP, Ekiti State, also disclosed on Monday that 30 suspected armed robbers have also been arrested.
“We are determined to tackle crime and criminality headlong in the state. We have put in place many strategies which include ensuring that the residents armed themselves with the numbers of the CP and other personnel to enable quick reach when in distress.
“All these techniques have resulted in various arrests of armed robbers, burglars and other miscreants, the police cells are now overwhelmed by the number of the arrests so far made,” he said.
Similarly, Albert Adeyemi, State Police Public Relations Officer, in a statement said, the command has set up various structures that has given room for constant patrol and clampdown on criminal hideouts.
