Eaton Set To Partner Lagos on Power

In a bid to provide consistent power supply to most public buildings in the state, Eaton, a United State, US-based power Management Company, is set to partner the Lagos State government with solutions that would develop the sector.

Accepting the offer, Olusola Oworu, Lagos commissioner for commerce & industry, explained that the state led by Governor Babatunde Fashola is determined to improve the generation and transmission of power.

Elated Oworu, stated during the inaugural West Africa Technology Day organised by Easton in Lagos that sustainability and energy-efficiency are vital requirements for the economic viability of businesses around the world.

“As Nigeria works to continue and accelerate its economic promise, we are pleased to be hosting a premier power solutions provider like Eaton, for the benefit of business and economic development across Nigeria and the West Africa Region,” the special guest of honour of the event said.

Shane Kilfoil, managing director, Africa, electrical sector, said that the company was using the technology days to raise market awareness of its extensive power management.

“We are tremendously excited about the opportunities that lay ahead in this dynamic and fast growing market,” he said. Kilfoil added that Eaton will also leverage its expertise and capabilities in Africa through its manufacturing facilities in South Africa, Morocco and Tunisia, its extensive distributor network and a dedicated team of 900 employees across the region to support the US government’s Power Africa initiative in Nigeria as well as in Ghana, Liberia, Kenya, Tanzania and Ethiopia.

He noted that the emergence of Nigeria as an economic power-house is dependent on developing innovative technologies to solve the country’s toughest power management challenges.

“Our vision is to establish Eaton as one of the premier power management companies in the region providing customized, innovative solutions that enable our Nigerian and West African customers to use electrical, fluid and mechanical power more reliably, efficiently, safely and sustainably,” he said.

The one-day event combined an exhibition floor showcasing Eaton’s power management solutions and products, alongside eight technical seminars run by Eaton’s leading experts from Africa and around the globe. Over 100 customers and partners from the region attended.
