Political drama erupted in Ibadan after defeated All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant Olusegun Olaleye, popularly known as “Segun Olaleye Radical” or “Radical Brother,” launched into a fiery public outburst following his loss in the party’s House of Assembly primary election.

The former two-term member of the Oyo State House of Assembly representing Ibadan North II reportedly took to major streets across Ibadan on Tuesday, ringing a bell and openly raining curses on the APC and influential party figures after losing the May 20 primary election.

Videos circulating widely on social media showed Olaleye visibly angry as he drove through parts of the city making spiritual declarations against the party and especially against Sharafadeen Alli, who is widely regarded as a leading contender for the Oyo State APC governorship ticket ahead of the 2027 elections.

Eyewitnesses said the aggrieved politician visited the APC secretariat in Oke Ado before proceeding toward the residence of former Oyo State governor Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja during the dramatic street rant.

In several viral clips, Olaleye was heard invoking curses and expressing frustration over what he allegedly believed was political betrayal within the party structure.

The development has shocked many political observers because Olaleye had previously appeared in campaign posters and political activities linked to Senator Alli, suggesting there may have been a breakdown in political alliances ahead of the primary.

Known for his grassroots popularity and outspoken political style, Olaleye returned to the APC from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023 and had been positioning himself for a political comeback after serving two terms in the state assembly.

Political analysts say his public outburst reflects growing tensions within the Oyo APC following the recently concluded primaries, where several aspirants reportedly complained about internal power struggles and the influence of political godfathers.

The incident has generated mixed reactions online.

While some supporters sympathized with Olaleye’s disappointment and described his reaction as an emotional response to defeat, others criticized the public display, arguing that openly cursing party leaders crossed the line of acceptable political conduct.

Several APC insiders also suggested that disciplinary measures could be considered if the controversy continues to escalate.

Observers say the incident may expose deeper divisions within the ruling party in Oyo State as politicians begin early positioning for the 2027 governorship race.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the All-Progressives Congress in Oyo State nor Senator Sharafadeen Alli had issued an official statement responding to Olaleye’s viral outburst.

The controversy adds to the growing wave of disputes and post-primary tensions currently rocking political parties across Nigeria ahead of future electoral contests.

This story is still developing.
