Gunmen suspected to be members of the Boko Haram sect have carried out an attack on Chad on Thursday night.
Chadian officials said the fighters crossed Lake Chad by motorboat and attacked a village at the shore of the lake in what is the first Boko Haram attack against the country.
The terrorist group was repelled by Chadian troops after they had killed several people.
Chad joined Nigeria, Niger and Cameroon in a military coalition against Boko Haram a few days ago.
