Türkiye has officially entered the hypersonic missile race with the unveiling of its first indigenous hypersonic ballistic missile, the Tayfun Block 4. The powerful weapon marks a significant milestone in the nation’s growing defense and missile technology capabilities.
According to reports from Turkish defense sources, the Tayfun Block 4 weighs approximately 2,300 kilograms, measures 6.5 meters in length, and is capable of striking targets up to 800 kilometers away. The missile is said to feature advanced targeting systems and is designed for high-speed precision strikes—making it a major leap forward in Türkiye’s missile arsenal.
The announcement comes as part of Ankara’s broader strategy to establish itself as a key player in regional and global defense innovation. Developed by Roketsan, Türkiye’s state-backed weapons manufacturer, the Tayfun Block 4 adds to a growing list of domestic missile projects, including the Bora and Atmaca missile systems.
