Edo State Polytechnic, Usen, has secured full accreditation from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for its Higher National Diploma (HND) programme in Business Administration and Management. The institution has also been granted approval to launch new programmes, including a National Diploma (ND) in Mineral and Petroleum Resources Engineering and a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Estate Management and Valuation.
The accreditation notice was conveyed in a letter addressed to the Polytechnic’s Rector by the Director of the Polytechnic Programmes Department, Fatima Kabir Umar, on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the Board, Prof. Idris Bugaje.
The accreditation followed a successful Quality Assurance Visitation Exercise conducted by NBTE at the institution.
In response to this achievement, the Rector, Omoruyi Sylvester, an engineer, described the accreditation of the three programmes as a landmark achievement for the institution. Omoruyi expressed gratitude to Governor Monday Okpebholo, for his commitment to restructuring the Polytechnic and ensuring the delivery of quality education.
He emphasised the governor’s vision of positioning Edo State Polytechnic for global recognition, enabling it to compete favourably with other institutions. Omoruyi posited that since the inception of Okpebholo’s administration, the welfare of the polytechnic’s staff had been prioritised with an increase in the institution’s monthly subvention as captured in the 2025 budget.
He reaffirmed the Polytechnic’s commitment to academic excellence and noted that the institution will soon invite NBTE for another round of Quality Assurance Visitation Exercises for additional academic programmes.
The Rector commended the Executive Secretary of the NBTE, Professor Idris Bugaje, and his entire team for their support and cooperation in advancing quality education at the Polytechnic.
