The All Progressives Congress, APC has described the rally held yesterday in Rivers State by members of the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria, TAN as a firing squad against the people of the country.
The party speaking through Lai Mohammed, its National Publicity Secretary also stated that President Goodluck Jonathan should be held responsible if Ebola cases worsen in Nigeria.
Mohammed who made the statement on Sunday in Lagos also said the President who had discouraged large gatherings to prevent further spread of the disease has flouted his own advice in his failure to stop the rally.
“On the altar of political desperation, President Jonathan put the lives of Nigerians in danger. In order to realise his ambition for re-election, President Jonathan has shown he is ready to sacrifice as many lives of Nigerians as possible,” Mohammed said.
APC had in a statement on August 28, 2014 called on the President to suspend the TAN zonal rally particularly in Port Harcourt, where a fresh case of Ebola had just been recorded.
“…We are calling on Nigerians to hold the President responsible if Ebola spreads more than it has in the country,” Mohammed said while adding that, “This is an unprecedented act of political desperation.”
