Calls for Search of Oshiomhole’s Benin Residence, Country home for Thugs, Arms.
The Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) in Edo State on Thursday charged the state Police Command to execute search warrants on the Benin and Iyamho residents of the immediate past governor of the state, Adams Oshiomhole, accusing him of harbouring thugs in his homes. The PDP blamed the Police for allegedly not doing enough to stop political violence and attacks on its members and supporters.
[wpdiscuz-feedback id=”wox4yinevw” question=”Please leave a feedback on this” opened=”0″][/wpdiscuz-feedback]The state publicity secretary of the party, Chris Nehikhare, who made the accusation at a press conference in Benin City, said “It is also important as a political party to say that the police is not doing enough in trying to arrest these criminals and the head of the gang whom we don’t know, but we have credible information. And we want to say here that the police should execute search warrant on the residence of Adams Oshiomhole, both in Benin and Iyamho because most of the attacks have been traced to his residents that whenever they hit anybody in Edo North, their vehicles are seen driving towards the Iyamho residence of Oshiomhole.
“They drive in and nobody goes in there to carry out investigation any further. I think it’s time for the police to execute arrest warrant not just for arms and ammunitions but for thugs that are resident there and using there as cover to come out to attack members of the PDP and the general public in Edo North and environs”.

Oshioke said “It is unbelievable that desperation could lead Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to attempt to tarnish the image of Oshiomhole. Oshiomhole is busy campaigning and selling the SIMPLE agenda of the party to the people and will not be distracted. He is not interested in joining issues with the PDP”.
He insisted that the former national chairman of the APC “has no hand in the violence and will never. Nobody comes to his house at Iyamho with weapons. It is only his security details who come in with weapons and everybody who comes in is seriously searched at the gate before entry. Shaibu is the one orchestrating violence in Edo State, especially in Edo North. He is the one that arms the thugs. All the violence in Edo State is against the APC”.
Wondering how Oshiomhole could perpetrate violence against his own people, Oshioke posited that “There’s no election that Shaibu has taken part without resorting to violence. In the last election, he sponsored thugs to destroy ballot papers in his own unit at Jattu when it was obvious that he lost. APC billboards are being vandalized throughout Edo North on a daily basis. The earlier he heeds the advice of the Omo N’Oba, the better”.

Nehikhare, however, commended the Oba of Benin, Ewuare II for his timely intervention to arrest the political violence in the state. “As a political party, we are very excited for the timely intervention of His Majesty in the very embarrassing situation we find ourselves where shooting becomes the order of the day especially in Edo North senatorial district of Edo State.

We appreciate his intervention and we will take it very seriously as he has said so. We will like to thank him for his fatherly intervention in these issues,” the PDP publicity scribe stated.
